I have had a ton of time on my hands the past few months and even though I'm embarassed to admit it I have been watching way too much television, But I've learned a few things about TV that hadn't dawned on me before this,
1: I used to think when people said they only watched PBS they were being pretentious. They wanted the rest of us to think they were intellectually superior. Granted, PBS has dumbed it down over the past few years but there's more good programming to be found there than virtually anywhere else.
2: You can get tired of Sienfield reruns.
3: What the hell happened to The Office. Boring!
4: Same night same network: "Community". Why?
5: Best tv pairing: Tutuola and Munch (Law and Order SVU) aka Ice T and Richard Belzer.
6: Best actor in a comedy: Alec Baldwin. Favourite actor in a comedy: Larry David.
7: Flight of The Concords has lost it's innocence.
8: Televised poker is better than televised billiards.
9: Wendy Crewson is in a lot of movies.
10: Mariska Hargitay (Law and Order SVU) is much hotter with long hair.
11: I still can't bring myself to watch "reality tv" of any kind.
12: Best actor in a drama: Anthony LaPaglia (With A Trace).
13: Best Drama: "Mad Men".
14: Best sports talk pairing: Tie: Mike Wilbon/Tony Kornhieser, Bob McCowan/Steven Brunt.
15: Funniest news shows in no particular order: Glenn Beck, The Daily Show (Jon Stewart), Bill Maher, The Colbert Report, Bill O'Riley.
(And an admission. I'm a big fan of Coronation Street. Never miss and episode)

Rick,
As an ROTF (Retired Old Fart) I very seldom turn on the idiot box until at the earliest 5 p.m to see "Round the Horn", (To which I have kind of warmed up to in the past year of so.) and then "P.T.I.", followed by local (Kitchener) news for an hour.
May watch "Law and Order, SVU", but it's getting a bit predicatable. Jane Mansefield's daughter should learn how to smile and thus augment the body. "60 Minutes" has been a MUST since its inception.
Listen to Bobcat the next day on Fadoo.com where I can pick and choose to what I wish to listen. Hockey has been off my radar since the mid 70s...........Broad Street Bullies era etc. Love baseball......Jerry and A.A. doing a great job on radio......which I prefer to the dunderheard "colour" personalites on the tube.
Rant over.
Army: Last night, Maple Leafs and Canadiens. Should be a must watch but I only caught about 10 minutes of it. I was riveted to the college basketball games. This has been a great tournament so far. I have alot of time for Buck Martinez and I'm glad he'll be calling Blue Jay games this year. I know some have done it but it's not often a former athlete turns himself, or herself, into a legitamate big time play by play person. I Just about gave up on SVU but I got hooked on Munch and Tutulo. I love the way they play off each other.
if you like Munch on SVU, then you MUST go back and watch the entire series the character was born on - "Homicide: Life On The Street". There's no comparison between cbaracters and (especially) the writing on the 2 shows.
David, will do. Thanks.
Speaking of the Jays - do you ever go to the games or just watch on TV?
Because of the hours I was working and where I live (an hour's drive to work) I don't go to many games. I've turned into a bit of a couch potato when it comes to sports. But I do get to talk about each and every play with some of the cats. I think....they're starting to understand the suttle nuances of the game.
